Rattle and Hum

During our Rhein-Main-sketchers meeting we visited the exihibition of Kai Wolf – an artist who creates cinetic objects. The room was embedded in a soundscape of tick-tacks, click-clacks – a fantastically rattle and hum.

1st annual meeting of Urban Sketchers Germany

Just a little bit late – here are some of my sketches done during the »premiere«-meeting of Urban Sketchers Germany in Darmstadt. Two days in September 2015 (September 4-6), fantastically organised by Jenny, Birgit, Clara, Lena and Roman, with lots of demos, workshops, a Sketchcrawl on Sunday and a final exhibition at the end.

Haute Savoie, St Ferréol

Some fine last days of summer in the French Alps: lovely people, impressive landscape, El Dorado for cyclists and climbers, a shame that I didn´t take french classes back in school... old greek instead - imagine!

Bethmannpark, Frankfurt am Main

Sketching with fellow »Rhein-Main« sketchers Jenny, Lena, Thomas, Andreas, Katja, Markus and Clara at the Chinese Garden inside the Bethmannpark. Afterwards we took the short walk to the Römerberg, which was crowded and busy on this day... Besides, there was a anti-Putin-demonstration of Ukrainian people and supporters going on.

Winter pickings

Glad, that the indoor-season is over and spring's here - although I´ve had really nice times with fellow sketchers at different museums in Mainz, Wiesbaden and Frankfurt.

Freiburg

The results (sketchwise) of a weekend trip to Freiburg in the south of Germany: Historic »department-store«-building (from 1532) opposite to the Cathedral (Münster). Then, driving a few meters up (1.200 m), my first and probably my last snow for this winter (for the temperature now is almost springlike) – and some fast sketches out on the streets during the »Straßenfasnet«, the street carnival that happened to take place on that weekend...

Natural History Museum, Mainz

Saturday 22 of February I´ve spent some time with some fellow sketchers (among them Urban Sketchers Jenny Adam, Andreas Koeniger and Birgit Mueller) at the Natural History Museum in Mainz. Although a part of the museum was closed due to a rennovation, we‘ve had enough themes to draw – in a comfortable setting. I "reactivated" an old brush pen and dared to use a ballpen to go straight away.

Blue hour – almost

Half an hour in the parked car, short break between kids-programme and some shopping. An old established chemical factory releaves its day-shift into the rush hour... I regret the choice of the pencil I´ve taken, after applying some washes the blue hour turns out a bit too greyish.

Elephants and Crocodiles

Sketching with Lapin and Markus in the Senckenberg Museum Frankfurt. You can chose either to have lots of bones and skulls (Dinosaurs and Co), or you could go for some stuffed furry animals …

Frankfurter Urelefant

At the 42nd International Sketchcrawl I met Birgit and Jenny at the »Weltkulturen Museum«, also Frankfurt. We sketched crocodile boat-stems, creepy skulls and figurines. I failed terrificly to achive some likeness in a wooden male-figure and had a great afternoon anyway.
